St. Marys is the county seat of Pleasants County, about 20 miles south of Parkersburg on US-33 along the Ohio River. It is a smaller community with a rural West Virginia character and housing stock that reflects its history as a river town. The Pleasants County Power Station is a visible landmark on the river, and the area around St. Marys has the mix of older residential properties, wooded lots, and agricultural land that creates year-round wildlife pressure on homes.
